Singapore Airlines Ltd. (SIA) is Singapore’s national airline. It functions as a core airline at Singapore Changi Airport and has a powerful influence in Asia and “Kangaroo Route” markets. The company also operates trans-Pacific flights, consisting of two of the world’s longest non-stop commercial flights from Singapore to Newark, New Jersey, and Los Angeles, California on the Airbus A340-500.
Singapore Airlines was the launch passenger of the "superjumbo" Airbus A380. SIA has expanded into airline-related businesses such as aircraft management and engineering. Its fully owned subsidiary company, SilkAir, handles local flights to some secondary cities with lesser capacity requirements. The Singapore Airlines Cargo manages and controls the cargo-hold capacity in Singapore Airlines’ passenger aircrafts.
